I'm not even a Giles/Jenny shipper, but I loved this. The wholly confident, vivid Jenny whom I can see in your every word, paired with shades of awkward canon Giles.

Hmmmm. Now, if only you could be persuaded to write Olivia, a very, very satisfied Olivia ... at least until the Gentlemen floated by.

I love the differences between the Giles in this story and the Giles in most of the blackmail verse. He is clearly the same character, yet there's something about this...I can't quite decide if it's because he's younger, or less experienced, or if it's because it's not Buffy. Needless to say, job very well done.

I think his relationship with Buffy is different from all his other relationships in some ways. Or maybe it would be any close relationship with an adult Slayer. That plus the transformations we see in canonical Giles from s1/s2 to the latter half of season 3 onward. I like to think of it as the trials of s2 burning away some of the protective covering he'd wrapped around himself to achieve his return to the Watchers. Some of his early persona is mask.

Sometimes I can't decide which is my favorite: early tweedy!Giles or S4 sarcastic!Giles.

Awwww! Sweet, happy, in love!Giles is one of my favorites. Like fuzzyboo03 says below, the Giles here is different from the Giles in the later stories, but you can sorta see how one got to the other.

Yeah: there are some aspects of the canonical Giles transformation from s2 -> s4 here, as well as some of my own (he gains a lot of experience with Jenny, and his relationship with Buffy is just plain different to start with). Character sketch, actually.
