Ah, mini-Watcher is cute. Am very much liking the fusion of organised religon and magic, seems very complex and I like that. Always wanted them to explain at least one of the characters take on religon on the show, what with all the cross wearing, weilding and reacting to that went on.

It's a theme I poke at in several stories, turns out, this business of religion and magic in the Buffyverse. It's always interested me that BtVS adopted some of the traditional vampire lore, then stripped it of all context. I suppose it had to, for the demands of American TV, but what we're left with is a strange cartoon generic Catholicism. Buffy can make nun jokes after Riley leaves, but nobody ever talks about where she gets her holy water. Or why it hurts vampires.

Awww! This is adorable. Love the insta-connection Buffy has with the mini-Watcher.

Such a trainwreck though. Cannot. Look. Away.

I'm majorly enjoying this anyway - the whole story so far - mostly because it's not, hmm, a comedy or a farce or a tragedy (well not yet). It's real-life-ish.

But in this one? I think the thing I liked the most, was Buffy examining religion. It struck me as so true. Buffy is a good example of many of us, church is when you dress up twice a year and never think about it at all, one way or the other. And yeah, the holy water stuff works, so what's up with that?

Buffy having to pay attention and think about some of this stuff is so good. Doesn't hurt that it makes *us* think about it too. :-)

Such a treat, this is!

This is so sweet and sad. I love Buffy sort of realigning her ideas of how the world works and then her moment with Peter at the end. And I'm terrified of where this is going.
