Oh, yes. Thank you. It's been a crappy day and this was fantastic to read while I was winding down.

This one was amazing and incredibly precious. Personally, one of the things that I can't stand about most submissives is that they're so damn submissive. But the way you've written Giles is lyrical: he is aware, reflective and proud (esp. in the fantasy wearing the bright silks and satins concealing her steel cock).
-- Being gifted with her marks of pain.
-- Remembering the first time he was breeched.
-- Being impaled by a glass object which revealed everything. I seriously think that's why penetrating men is so ... enticing, because their bodies are intended to be more secretive ... yes, even with the obvious exception!
-- Wondering whether Buffy would ever let him taste another man's come. [Damn, you vixen, you're really pushing buttons now!]
-- Having Buffy play with his body according to her whim, her rhythm.

And, then, the wondrous dichotomy of having Buffy between his legs, on her knees, worshipping him.

However, I do have one tiny quibble. He lay on his belly and awaited his mistress' ( ... )

My personal theory is that submission is most valuable when it comes from a strong person, when it's chosen of free will and not beaten out of a broken person. Giles is who he is: strong, smart, willful, controlled, with a mind that will not be silent even when he wants it to be. His fantasy says a lot about who he is in this story (at least, I hope it does). He chooses to serve her, is a powerful ally for her, and is thrilled to be valued by her.

It's time, though, for me to investigate more what all this gives to Buffy. Though I think she's about to get herself into an Initiative-related mess...

(I suspect punctuation rules are changing, because more and more people seem not to go with the "use pronunciation as a guide" possessive formation. 's is always correct, though, so... Eh! What I need is a professional copy editor to set me straight once and for all!)

Language is a living thing, and the rules do change. I read that the 's is preferred, but not necessary. I choose to drop it, because I don't like how it looks as a reader. I don't like things that don't sound right in my head like Giles's. If I use the one s, I can say Giles in my mind. I was a professional copy editor, and although I seem to screw it up now, I used to be pretty good at it.

Aha! You know I'm going to torment you now with questions. But I'm glad somebody else is with me on the "sometimes that extra ess sound is just plain weird" thing.

(Serial comma: best thing ever, or merely on par with sliced bread?)
