Heat, Humidity, and Fruit Bats

So begins the Australia and New Zealand trek. Not much time to post as we are paying by the minute but here is the start.

We are in Cairns where it has been 34-35 celsius and humid like Florida summers. There is a great public lagoon for swimming and cooling off.
Took the scenic rail/skylift trip through and over the jungle. That was really neat.

Coolest thing yet though are the thousands of fruit bats that are currently roosting in the city. They hang out (literally) by day and pick the fruit at night. They are the largest bats I have ever seen.
