Éclair had been walking the courtyard, admiring the holograms. The flowers had been pretty in the rain, but with the sun shining, things were so much nicer. The simulations were definitely detailed, too. The artificial plants even had scent.

She heard the wheels before she saw the boy coasting around. Curious, she approached as he sat down and leaned down to look at him.

"What were you doing? I've never seen anything like that before."

Beat looked up from his wheeled seat when he heard a vaguely familiar voice. A girl? He blinked dimly, looking down at his skateboard.

"You ain' never seen a skateboard before?" He asked, looking unsure. Other worlds aside, how could you not know what one was? He scratched his head, confused.

"Skateboard, huh? No, I haven't." She straightened her six-foot self back up and stretched her arms to the sky before plopping down next to him. Leaning over for a better look at the toy, she added, "I don't think we have these on Aineas."

Oh wow this girl was tall. Beat looked up, then over as she sat next to him. "Aineas? Yer home?" He scooted over, pulling the board out from under himself and offering it to her to look at more carefully.

"An' fancy. Ya ride it, yo!"

From the second he sees Beat, Neku knows that something's up. And, no, it doesn't take a partner to tell -- for once, Beat's sitting still and quiet, which is a sight so rare it's almost troubling. Something's obviously on the skateboarder's mind, and Neku figures that he doesn't even need three guesses to figure out what.

... but. He's Neku, and situations like this aren't exactly his forte. He spends a few seconds halfway across the courtyard, trying to figure out what to say -- but, screw it. This is Beat, right? So, Neku makes his way over to the other boy, shoes squeaking slightly on the damp grass. "... Hey."

And, with that, he plops down across from Beat. "Didn't peg you for the bonding-with-nature type. You out here to sight-see?"

Beat looks up at the sound of Neku's voice, fighting to put on a grin. Neku had seen him when he was at his most vulnerable; when he had begged the other boy to help him, when he told him what got him and his sister killed... so he doesn't try too hard to hide his worry.

"Nah man... flower is flowers. Tryin' ta skate a little, ya know? Ain' going so hot."

"... Yeah, I can tell."

Neku shifts slightly on the grass, choosing to focus his gaze on the hat in Beat's hands instead of meeting the other boy's eyes. They've been through... worse than this, but still. It's awkward for him; he's not sure how to start, not sure what to say. ... but he wants to try. That counts for something, right? "... Something on your mind?"

"Nah man, that's the problem! I ain' got no ideas how to get us home or nothin'!" he snarls, thumping his fist against the ground in frustration. "More an' more folks keep showin' up and nothing is HAPPENING. I can't take this shit."

That said, he crosses his arms over his chest, sulking. "What if one'a us gets sick, yo? I ain' smart, I know that. But I gotta do something or I'm gonna go nuts..."
