I don't think anyone is really laughing, to be honest. [ He'll leave the 'not anyone sane' bit unsaid. ]

It doesn't seem like this place is picky about who it choses. It's picked some real winners, from my understanding. [ There might be a hint of sarcasm to his voice. Or bitterness, perhaps. ]
