(no subject)
Man have I been busy! No update for nearly a week!
Today has been cool. I got an email from my travelling friend with some cool news I can't divulge any further because I promised to keep my mouth shut..heheh. OOOOH intriguing. I am getting more ink tomorrow. Yay. This weekend was good. Like Ben said in his post - lots of people and the way things used to be. We played a much much better set than we did last time so I feel we have redeemed ourselves a bit now. Still a long way to go but it's a start. I saw a hell of a lot of bands play on a boat cruise on Saturday and it was cool because a couple of the bands I wanted to see - but, like my friend Matt put it, "Every band that has played today sounds like the Ataris" It is sad but true. The brisbane all ages scene has become a victim of the Ataris wannabe syndrome. A couple of the kids are starting to discover 'newer' bands like NFG and Saves The Day which is so freaking sad. I hate to dump on it but where is the originality. Have any of them even heard of Lifetime? Ah well you get over it. I counted three Ataris stickers on one guitar.... And now I have mentioned the name three times in my post! (Let it be known that yes, I too have been a fan of the band and will be the first to admit it but, um, the new album has lost me).
So anyway moving on from this petty elitism I am displaying...... there were a few cool people there which made it fun but it was very drawn out and long....5 hours of being stuck on a boat....hmm. This week looks not too bad - I have minimal uni stuff to do and next week I have a holiday but I have to work every day. Good because I will have a fatter wallet. Yeah.
