I really liked this! Your writing flows well, and the exploration of Ochi through his relationship with his grandfather is fantastic. I loved the use of that last kifu as a link between Ochi and his grandfather.

They were all obstacles. - this line was so Ochi I had to smile.

Ochi is so sad, isolated, bitter, lonely, aching, frustrated, and in-character here. Very well done treatment of a really (sadbitterlonely) interesting premise.
