I don't know the series that was crossed over with HnG, so I didn't read this when the entries were first put up. But on finishing this story, I realized I didn't need to know the series, just have some knowledge of the Japanese phenomenon of the hikikomori. This was a very interesting and detailed tale. And your incorporation of the shut-in as a possible explanation other people might have of Hikaru's state if he'd decided to put off the go world...it showed a great knowledge of Japanese society that I really appreciate.
I also feel like I've read your writing before, in a previous round of blind_go. ^_~

I was really wary about making a crossover with an unknown series so I wrote it in a way that it would appeal to those who aren't familiar with Welcome to NHK! as well.
I also feel like I've read your writing before, in a previous round of blind_go I hope you managed to guessed me right ^^; Thanks for reading!
I actually could sorta follow this, even though I haven't heard of the series which it's crossed over with! Which was new, since I get confused easily. ♥
I left this one 'til a bit later to read, because I wanted a chance to look up the crossover - it's not one I knew. I'm glad I did look it up~ this is a very interesting fic. I love document-style fics.
I assume Hikaru shut himself away after Sai left? Which, yeah, I could see happening if he hadn't been a pro before then. His return was always so fragile.
I also liked the way you left things for us to guess - was Nakano Akira? What triggered his return? (And the meta of May 5th made me smile)
Thanks for reading even if Welcome to NHK! wasn't a familiar series. I highly recommend it :D
Yes, Akira was Nakano. He assumed a pseudonym since Hikaru wouldn't come in contact with him. I would like to think it was to protect both Hikaru and his reputations since being hikikomori is regarded as shameful. As for what made him return, I'd rather leave that for speculation :)

one of the reasons I like blindgo is because people come up with usual things like this.
