It is nice and warm story. It is brillian to read something that is much different from others. I like it a lot and I wish you continue writing something great like this. I will try to guess, although I don't know many authors. Anyway, I love your story a lot especially a part that Touya touches Hikaru's face. It is touched and I almost cry. Their relationship relies on their trustfulness and long-term friendship. You makes everything seem real. By the wy, it is great to see they kiss in the end.
"Shindou's either a martyr or a high stakes gambler," That certainly sounds about right. =D
It was interesting seeing Hikaru refuse to treat Akira as any different - though he is considerate with guiding him, he doesn't expect any less of his Go.
Akira's desperation in finding out he was blind, came across really strongly.
This was a really fascinating and lovely fic to read.
I love the blind_go challenge, I do. This is so mind blowingly appropriate for it, I love that it took a while for Akira to figure out that he really didn't need sight for Go, though it was one of the first conclusions I came to. I like that you set up a journey for him here, and Shindou is there, orbiting in his peripherals and with such devoted support. I love Touya-sensei's stoic pride in his son that admittedly made me mist up since I'm such a sucker for fatherly bonding, and the strange, oddly VISUAL sense of Go in this. It's like those scenes from the anime where the Go board morphs into the universe, or becomes suspended in space, it feels more real because it's so internalised and personal, and this fic is exactly like that, plays close to heart.
This has got to be the most tastefully done Hika/Aki fics I've ever seen -- the premise is original and everyone is almost completely in character (Akira seems a little more abrubt than usual but given his circumstances that's understandable.) It also seems fairly well researched; the same idea could have easily fallen flat without the level of detail put into this. Very enjoyable overall ^^
