I can almost see that scene. The gifts they've chosen speak so much of who they are! Touya's thoughtfulness makes me want to hug him.

I loved too that he knows Shindou enough that he understands why his mother finally gave in :)

My only complaint is a minor nitpick. In Japan, you have to be 18 to get your driver's license. Otherwise, a great little slice-of-birthday-life!

Ah I wondered if someone would bring that up! I actually did some research, and you can get a moped and mid-size (up to 250cc) motorcycle license when you're 16 there!

Technically, even after you get your 250cc license, you aren't allowed passengers until six months after you get your license, so Shindou is breaking the law and could lose his license for good if caught. ^_^ (Could have been three--it's been a while since I needed to know.)

Ah, now that I didn't know. Thanks for enlightening me! I think Hikaru would still want to take Touya for a ride, and his justification would be "It's just around the block, who's gonna catch me?"

Hahahaha, how very Touya. And the fan, oh man, love the sentimental moment, and I really appreciate the mysteriousness that peeks through, with Touya knowing something is up, but having no idea what. Awesome.
