Just this: When we are children we seem like adults because we work so hard, when we are adults we seem like children because we only know how to play games,” Zhao said. Such a wonderfully sad line and so profound. Well done.
This story is so lovely and it kind of breaks my heart. I really love how this fits together, the easy dialogue and Le Ping's thoughts in between, the circularity of the ending. Oh, Le Ping. ♥
I love the last scene. But this: “It's so silly,” Zhao said. “It's like being children forever. Never looking beyond your childhood friends.” “Is that silly?” Le Ping's mouth was dry, and he suddenly felt too big for his skin. Oh, that's heartbreaking. I somewhat agree with Zhao, for real-life things (not things that get in the way of OTPs), and it's still heartbreaking.
Very nicely done. Especially with the little details of Le Ping's/the Institute's morning routines.
This is gorgeously written. The pairing intrigues me, and I love getting Le Ping's POV--he's still the childish, precocious character we saw in the series, but older, a little sadder.
