There's a little, old lady that wanders along the corridor in my building. When she gets to the end, she turns around and continues walking at her little, old lady speed all the way to the other end of the corridor. And then she turnes around. And continues walking. It looks like I'll be going to Iceland the summer I graduate which
will be some time in July/August of 2007. I'm currently finishing my
ESL (English as a Second Language) degree in Lingustics with a minor
in French. I plan on applying for the MA program once I graduate here
as well. I'm extremely interested in teaching in Iceland. People
have told me that there is a high demand for English teachers in
Iceland. However, I don't know if that's at the university level or
in high schools. I've been told by one person that the University of
Iceland his underfunded and that the Menntaskólinn's are they way to
go. I went to a couple of their websites, which are located in
Reykjavík and Akureyri, along with a couple other ones but I can't
really get anything out of them since they don't have an English page
and everything is in Icelandic.
I was wondering if you knew anything about this profession. I've
contacted a few people at the University of Iceland in the English
Department and all they seem to do is CC my e-mail to other faculty
and I never get a response. I don't really know what the
qualifications are for teaching English in Iceland, but I'm definately
wanting to know. I've heard many things but I don't know the truth.
I didn't know if their was a way for you to find some information for
me or if you had the time in which to do so.
If you had the time, I'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks for your time!
