As a birthday gift to myself, I decided today not to rack up $100K more in loan money and declined the offer from Hopkins.
In a way, it's a bit of a relief, because lately I've gotten more excited at the prospect of moving back to New Orleans and getting a better-paying (and more interesting) lab job at Tulane. I'm a bit disappointed, of course, but I can always say that I got accepted to Hopkins but chose to spurn them. It's their fault if they can't manage to scrape together enough money to give a stipend to a fabulous broad like me. :)
