we went on a bike ride...

the top of tremont just schooled me, shaken baby style.

no lie, i really feel like jello.

and, just to throw it out there:
we are not allowed on the river walk at night. yes, this is a lesson i have learned the hard way. be prepared for a scolding and a reminder that we are not allowed on the river walk at night. a simple remedy to the situation might involve sweet smiles and a promise to the rangers that you are simply going to go 50 feet further, catch your breath, hydrate your system, hop down to the river, find a place away from the giant bug magnet masking itself as a spot-light for the area, smoke a joint, go the fuck on about your business, and pray to have a safe trip home. which is where you are going. because, we are not allowed on the river walk at night.

okay, so i can handle it. i can ever deal with the knowledge that both of the river walk rangers are going to be parked in separate cars, facing opposite directions, at the bottom of the bridge (about half-way to the dam, just before the cul-de-sac and jig-sawed stones). i really can. i can even deal with justifications like: maybe 2 in the morning isn't the best time to go on a bike ride, or even, we say you cannot be here...we have cars to take you places and fines to send your way...leave.

what i am wondering, and perhaps so enthralled by at this moment of clarity through my mind-numbing bike ride body buzz, is the simple question as to why the WHOLE ENTIRE path has to be lit up brighter than coolidge park if, after all, we are not allowed on the river walk, at night. maybe i'm just a little offended. maybe i really do want the rest of the world to adhere to my nocturnal tendencies. i don't know. what i do know is that i was on the river walk tonight, on a bike, having a wonderful time, glad for all those lights to be there that, in turn, so could i. then i was told to leave and deal with the disappointment of energy wasted for no one to observe, minus the hollow shinning lights, existing only to provide a fiery realm for the slackers of the local cicada colony to commit suicide.

btw, in case no one has posted a sign to tell you: we are not allowed on the river walk, at night.
