Why is it so bad for games to be linear? Are cutscenes really such a plague? Bragging about branching dialogue paths and tons of endings just seems like a gimmick, as of late. One that will force me to play a game way too many times in order to discuss it at all.
Is gaming as a storytelling medium really such a bad thing?
What is up with the need to be in charge of your character's appearance, role, and behavior so much? It will always come as a detriment to narrative coherence and character integration into the story.
What made gamers change their opinions on this so drastically?
