Meanwhile - In spain

Hola amigos!

I´m currently sitting in an internet cafe in Barcelona. Prices are still expensive here... or rather, they're exactly the price they would be in the states considering the strength of the Euro. Foolishness. Curse our economic woes, and crumbling romanesque state of debauchery...

We're staying in some guys apartment, which he runs as a hostel. Which works out pretty well - we've a key to the place, can come and go as we want, can do laundry for free, a complete kitchen, the beds come with sheets, and there's a max of 7 people there. All for 18 euros a night - that's compared to a room with 30 people, paying for laundry, no kitchen, paying for sheets each night (at 2 euro 50) for 16 euro a night... so I think we come out on top.

Even better, it's in a safe area of town, as opposed to the cheap hostels which are down the backroads where crime is rampant in the evening.

On a down note, I'm here with people who aren't willing to spend money, even to entertain themselves... which is frustrating. We walked around the city yesterday, and spent... 2 euro... that's because it was sunday and the supermarket was closed, so we were literally forced to eat out. (Which was a big challenge for them I think) They just hadn't budgeted anything at all for spending cash.

Oh, also, none of them drink... which isn't terrible, but kinda stops us from blending in. Dean (or Dennis depending on who you're talking to) is the guy who runs the 'hostel' and he's swedish, he's got a friend named Daniel from... somewhere I'm not sure of, and they had a few friends over last night. A local, a brazilian, and two guys from Edinburgh. Well, they offered everyone a drink save me... because they had all said no by the time they got to me, so they figured I would've as well. It was some brazilian drink that you add ice, lime, and sugar to. So they got adequately drunk, and we all sat around and sang Zepplin and Floyd, which was fun. Oh, and played Splinter Cell and Vice City.

Alright, sorry I hadn't updated at all during the last term here at school. Honest I'm still alive, and I'm being safe (Mom).

It's weird being in a country where they actually speak another language, and they don't have a clue what you're saying. It just strikes me as funny everytime I think about it. (I said that the other night at a restaurant after two glasses of wine and they were all convinced I was totally wasted... Ahh, kids.)

Alright, I've gotta run. Hope you're all doing okay. I've been trying to keep up with your live journals, even if I've not been keeping mine up.

Bien vinedo!
