Okay, I haven't posted in like forever...oops! A ton of stuff has happened since last time. I've seen spoons go all bendy from people thinking about it; I spent a wonderful overnight with my friend Jean complete with anime overload and the most fun power outage I've ever had; I've been to a bunch of art fairs with good friends; I've been rediscovered by work so I'm finally making money again; and I've been having so much fun with my girlfriend it's sad.
I'm also trying out Microsoft's new blog editor (
Windows Live Writer beta), so let me know if the post is FUBARed!
Yeah, I went to a party where we actually bent kitchen utensils with the power of our minds. I couldn't do it, but my girlfriend
raendrop may have (she's actually not sure!), and everyone else except one of our hosts did. It was rather cool to see. It definitely wasn't like bending one by hand. I tried that and it was a lot tougher and slower. I still haven't doffed my official skeptic's hat tho. But the host and hostess were great, and I hope they become friends. :)
missjeanevil and I have been friends for like five or six years, but we don't see each other as much since she moved away to become successful and have a real life, while I stayed behind to keep it real in the hood.
Sounds good anyway, huh?
I tied her to a chair and made her watch lots of Nana and Ouran High School Host Club. She resisted at first, but by the end was seeing five lights just fine. Actually, no, she liked them all right away, but that's cuz they're really awesome and hard not to like. It took overnight to watch everything, and on the second night we had a power outtage for like an hour, and we spent it watching a really cool lightning storm outside, then inside just talking about stuff. Strangely, that time sitting in the dark was my fave of the whole trip. Thanks, Jeannie. Missed ya!
Alfreda (Dawn's mom), Dawn (
lonelyowl28)and I spent a few weekends hitting art fairs. Those were fun too. There was one woman named Kathleen Orta at the Allen Park one who did "fun" art---not the greatest skill, maybe, but a lot of heart.
She's at www.rynnakat.com. Dawn bought two of her pieces. And in the booth next to hers was a guy with great art. I flipped through it and saw a piece that was vaguely familiar, and I thought maybe the artist was inspired by another piece I'd known. We went back to his booth and I told Dawn about the painting that reminded me of another one, and the woman who was manning the booth this time (it had been the artist before) asked, "Oh, you've heard of him?" I said that I hadn't. But I took a card and browsed his
website when I got home---and it turned out I did know the artist's work! He'd done the covers for some Heinlein books in the '80s, and the one I'd seen was the one for
Starship Troopers, which I hadn't seen in years, and it just doesn't look the same without the text. So, sorry, Carl!
There was also fun swag at the Ann Arbor one. The bestest one was the gallon of organic apple juice---yum! But man was it tough lugging that gallon-sized glass jar through the rest of the art fair! Fortunately, we were nearly done!
The work front has been interesting. We worked redoing the frame sections at area Kmart stores for the first week. It was supposed to be two but Kmart did such a piss-poor job holding up their end of the contract that Storecast cancelled it. That's the rumour, anyway. Whatever, the reality is that I spent a week and a half with no work and thus no money. I had a court appearance on child support too, and I was paranoid that they would throw me back in jail. As it happened they didn't, and I have yet another reprieve until the beginning of October (notice how they claim they don't harass, but I've been in court or in jail on average every other month since about last October?). Anyway, on top of that my boss is quitting, so it's been challenging getting any answers to my questions, the most strident of which has been, "Is there any work for me yet?". But at the beginning of the week she called asking if I could work the last half of the week, to which I said yes, so I've been doing candy aisle resets at Kroger. Talk about a pain in the ass! One day took fourteen hours, cuz we had to spend too much time training and redoing the work of a new person. But at least we get paid for it. The work is still not as steady as I want, tho, so I'm still looking.
All of which reminds me, I bought my mom's old car, so now I have a Lincoln Town Car that's almost ten years newer than the Tracer (which I'm selling: $400. I have two interested peeps but I'm going for the money) and in better shape. Gas is expensive tho! It sat in front of the neighbour's house for a little while since I didn't have insurance on it at first, and the neighbour called the cops and told them it had been there for three months. I got a ticket for it. Pisses me off. But I have the dealer temp plate with the date I bought it on it, so I can prove I didn't even own it three months ago. And I went over that neighbour's at one in the morning to ask them what the deal was---this is the same guy who lined the drive with rocks in the winter cuz his lawn was more important to him than my mom's suspension or tires, and who was too chickenshit to ask us if we could, say, put up reflectors so Mom doesn't drive on it when she backs out. Which is exactly what I did after I threw the rocks into the middle of his lawn, which was so precious to him he left them there for a few weeks. It's gonna piss me off having to take time off from work to go to court to "fight" this tho. Seems like there should be some legal recourse to people using the police like that to fight their petty squabbles. Saying a car has been abandon for three months when the owner hasn't even owned it for three weeks?! With petty shit like that going on, no wonder the city can't afford to pick up the garbage.
Maybe I'd have a bit more gas if I'd stop visiting my girlfriend. She lives half an hour away! But the trips are so worth it! We have so much fun together, even when we're not doing anything. Dawn wonders why I don't come over her place since she's half an hour away too, but she keeps conveniently ignoring the fact that we couldn't stay there very long because she lives with Satan; whereas I stay at Raenna's for hours on end---usually until the next morning. The last time I stayed a few nights because we were moving her out of one dorm and into another. No way that's happening at Dawn's. And she also seems to forget that when she met her keeper, he lived half an hour away and she generally stayed a night or three (or four or five) cuz he was just so damn far away. So, oh well. Get a better roomie and you'll get better company, is my thought.
The last time I saw Raenna, however, was last night, when she and I went over Danielle's just to hang out. It was the first time they'd met. We had fun. :) D. treated us to dinner, we saw and played with cute baby animals, watched a little tv and mostly chatted and had a good time. I'm really looking forward to doing it again. The funny part is that our plans had originally included
lorrraine, Raenna's other girlfriend; but Danielle thought I was asking her, and I thought Danielle was asking her, so of course she never got asked! Doh!
Windows Live Writer's kinda neat, and the interface is clean and familiar (not unlike Word's), but I do miss some of the features of Semagic, such as being able to post to my blog or my community blogs, getting my Friends List info, having shortcuts to features like LJ-cutting, and more. This just lets me post to my main blog as is. But it claims to recognise LJ and a handful more sites and protocols, and sounds like a good thing. I thought it would be fun to try. But it does make my screen go all blinky like it does when I'm using Java stuff. Ick.
Okay, that's all!

You scored as Either. You brain is neither specifically male nor female in the way you perceive things. As bad as this sounds it can easily mean that you are capable of combining both gender aspects to your advantage. Rather than being genderless you are possibly able think freely. This does not mean that you are bisexual or androgynous or indecisive, but it might.
