Spent the day in readings--a brilliant idea from another WisCon-goer years ago. Such good art! Nobody having an off day, nobody still in the early stages of their craft--just gifted, good writers. List to follow.
I also moderated a panel on Supporting Our Writers. Three people showed up, and between the six of us we ended up concocting a plan to help not only our fellow artists and readers, but everybody we could possibly help...stay tuned for some entries on that, we will see how it goes. Mostly we wanted to lend our strength to existing campaigns rather than reinventing the wheel--and fill in some gaps that need filling.
Unexpected, since really I think we all thought the usual thoughts when a panel has tiny attendance. We didn't expect to leave with a clear plan of action and next steps.
Writers I heard today that I'd recommend (some in my own reading--spelling optional, I fear, as I don't have my program with me):
Chris Barzack
Richard Butner
Ted Chiang
Haddyr Coppley-Woods
Sarah Prineas
Karen Meisner
Chance Morrison
Jenn Reese
M Rickert
Benjamin Rosenbaum
Christopher Rowe
Heather Shaw
