I first learned this trick a few years ago in a comment on svilleficrecs journal, and it's been an awesome time saver ever since. Call it the "how to format a fic for posting in less than 30 seconds no matter the story length or amount of formatting" trick.

WHERE WERE YOU A MONTH AGO WHEN I SPENT 20 MINUTES MANUALLY INSERTING THE HTML FOR EVERY INSTANCE OF ITALICS ON A FIC? LOL. BOOKMARKING THIS! YOU ARE AWESOME!

No, it doesn't. And it doesn't appear as if it works for the < hr > tags either :(

Yeah, sorry. I can get openoffice to find the italics text, but not replace it with the original text bracketed by the < i > tags. What are you trying to replace with the < hr > tags?
