Early Ostara Gifts

Blessed Ostara to my pagan fellows. Here's a little springtime cheer that arrives a day or so early. A few pictures of my currently blooming lovelies...

This is a new one. I bought it just a few weeks ago to replace one of my grandmother's violets that unfortunately perished shortly after being placed in my care. I think she would approve, as the leaves are beautifully patterned. I believe it is called "Pink Petticoats".

This is one of the African Violets I inherited from my grandmother. I have tentatively identified it as "Starry Night Blue". She always liked double-flowering and varigated varieties. At my guess, this specimen is close to 20 years old, and it is doing great.

And of course the phelanopsis. I am very proud of bringing back this one from the brink of death. It had been a gift to grandmother in the last year of her life, and had not been much cared for. I don't know what the variety is, but I'm sure it's a common store-bought type. The leaves still look ragged, but it seems to be doing fine.

My ultricularia sandersonii colony never stops blooming, of course, but they are lovely anyhow. Like orchids in miniature! How miniature? I could put around 3-4 of these little flowers on my thumbnail. Sandersonii flowers are often compared to "angry bunnies" since they have the cute little "ears".
