Most of the neighboring merchants finally got in and set up today.
Typsy Gypsy was there quite early, as usual. The owner brought her uncle with, and he'd never been to a renfair or SCA event before. He didn't seem overwhelmed though, so I'm sure he'll be fine.
Nechbecht's Treasures arrived later than expected. But Nechbecht arrived in one piece, with Cynthia and Duglas in tow. Wulfgar couldn't make it this year. It's good to see them again. I'm glad I don't have to work with them, though. They spent all day sniping at each other while they set up... I'm probably the same with Tomas though.
Across the way was "Well Crafted". I'd never seen them before. But they had a bunch of gorgeous venetian-style carnival masks. I went across and got eight for
trouble131's wedding as soon as they were open. I didn't want to wait because the party theme for this year is "Carnivale" and I expect them to sell out before the week is half over.
On my right was the Commemorative DVD people. I'd seen them at other venues, but this time they are right next door, with their trailer video on infinite loop. That's gonna get old really fast...
Last to arrive was Giggling Wenches Handcrafts. I was happy to see them finally get here. Turns out that aside from the reports of terrible weather up north, they had problems with their trailer... Problems that sounded exactly like what had happened to us on the way down to Florida.
Business is still slow, and since the Boss didn't leave me any tools, I can't really get any work done. Just sit here and hope for customers. I've managed to dig up a couple old lights, so at least I can stay open a little while after dark now, though the illumination is inadequate for doing much.
I'm happy I brought the wool shawls and norse garb this year. It's much chillier than the previous two years I've come here.
