Well, today was more eventful than I anticipated. I managed to get some painting done in Mark's office. Two walls are now finished, a third requires only slight touch-ups, and the fourth now has a primer coat on it. We got the drapes for Mark's office as well. I also started sorting through my fabric. Some got put up.
Now the drama was from other sources. My sister finally got back to me late last night, and her visit down here is cancelled, for reasons of finance. I totally understand, as I've been there myself. Phil's brother called, and Phil answered, so the surprise of his visit is revealed early.
A large group of us went out to dinner at the
Acropolis tonight. A bit pricey, but the food is excellent. We did our usual 'feast', in which everyone pitches in a set bit of money, and they just keep bringing us food until we are ready to explode. A little of everything. The leftovers got brought back to the house to add into the smorgasboard for tomorrow.
When we came home from dinner (not but a few moments ago), we discovered that the street in front of our house is closed off by fire trucks. Apparently one of the houses a bit down the street from us is or was on fire. I am hoping it is one of the buildings on the other side of the one empty lot in our block, as the houses here are cheek-to-jowl. Old neighborhoods are like that. I'll probably find out in the morning when it is safer to walk down that way. The fire crews appear to have the situation pretty much wrapped up, and luckily it stormed yesterday night, so things aren't too dry. I just fret that sparks could spread in places like this where neighbors can shake hands out their windows.
