This is beyond lovely, and possibly the only approach I've ever seen to Merlin waiting through the years that finds joy in it as well as loneliness.

Yeah, that's pretty much why I wanted to write something like this. Merlin always seems to get the short end of the stick and have a miserable time waiting for ages while Arthur larks about in Avalon; I figured it was time he found something to keep him occupied.

That last one was actually the first bit I wrote, and the image of Arthur on Io was the thing that made me sit down and go, "Right, what sort of story can I build around this so it gets written in somewhere?" It's pretty dear to me, and I'm thrilled to hear you enjoyed it as well. Thank you!
