It’s been YEARS!

I think I’m just gonna post random stuff from now on.

First up: some pics from my last minute trip to Sapporo for the 5x20 tour in Nov of 2018.

I literally almost didn’t check the ballot results so I had about 2 days to decide whether I could make the trip nor not. I requested 2 days off work so I could fly over for the weekend and was thankfully approved. And for some reason, I balloted for 4 tickets even though it was only me going, so I found a friend of a friend to go with, and then 2 strangers off of Twitter! I didn’t upcharge anyone for my tickets because I wasn’t in the business to profit off of other desperate Arashi fans.

I left around 12:05 AM on Friday morning, landed on Saturday afternoon in Sapporo. The customs guy asked me what the purpose of my trip was and I answered “concert.” He immediately went, “Ah, Arashi.” Right after landing, I took a bus to the Dome and lined up to buy goods. Then took a train to the hostel (which was like $100 a night and also the cheapest option I had last minute). I got lucky that I got a room meant to fit 6 all to myself for the night!

Sunday was concert day! I had to get to the venue early so I could meet up with the other 3 people in my group, none of which I’ve ever met in person before. That was a bit hectic and I somehow managed to wrangle everyone together. The new QR code system meant that we didn’t know where we’re sitting until they scan my code. We got seats in the stands but quite central, so I think we lucked out. It was a magical and emotional concert, I think I was crying at the end. I flew out the next day so I think I was in Japan for about 48 hours. All my coworkers thought I was crazy to do it, but it was totally worth it and would do it again.
