Stick whacking

I have now covered the basics of George Silver's backsword. From here it is a matter of practise, increased judgement and learning to apply what I have been taught. There are additional subtleties, to be sure, details of the Close Fight, some additions to the style that lend from later backsword techniques, but from here I move from drill to bouting.

This Sunday Paul Wagner will not be available, bit I will be heading to Camperdown Memorial Park to practise with a couple of the others, polish off some bits and pieces and maybe have some bouting. I know hawke_eye expressed an interest - if anyone else is keen, come along for something a lot less formal and a chance to poke fun.

The week after we start English longsword. We will be continuing to bout Silver's fight, but looking at a two handed longsword style. It shoudl nicely complement the one handed style of Silver and having something else to concentrate on will let the techniques of Silver settle and flow.
