the_christian 1 - Under what conditions is it right or understandably necessary to kill someone?
Right - only for the same sorts of reasons one would put down an animal. That is, removing a sick and dangerous person from the capacity to do further harm.
As for understandably necessary - I understand that others have a different value of right, and can understand why some would kill in self-defence, others in a fit of rage.
2 - If you could go back to eighteen years old, knowing what you know now, what would you change?
Nothing. All of it made me who I am now, any change is tantamount to suicide. I would no longer be me.
3 - If you were given a stipend, enough to live comfortably and never work again, what would you do with your life?
Study. I am woefully ill-educated in so many fields, time enough to make a dent in that would be welcome.
Dedicate myself seriously to a martial art, in part for the pure physicality in part as it is one of the best forms of moving meditation I have found.
Spend a lot more time on various hobbies and interests, especially the creative ones - learn to work metal, sew properly, ...
4 - When does helping people become coddling them?
When you become a crutch. When the 'help', if removed, would leave the person no better off than when it was first offered. When the help actually prevents the person from learning to deal with the situation themselves. When the help has a price or strings.
5 - Tell me at least one book that has really affected your life?
The Principia Discordia, profoundly. Truth in absurdity. The possiblity of simultaneous and contradictory truths. The illusion of Truth.
