I see no problem with writing to make people happy and to make people understand; I guess it just comes as a sort of shock to realize that I'm probably more Deltora Quest than Dogeaters. But when I think about it, the kind of literature I grew up with - juvenile sci-fi/adventure series and comings-of-age - is the kind of literature I produce, so I shouldn't be surprised at all.
