I'm diplomatic but I know exactly what you are talking about. And it is not fun. But this is what I've done. Probably doesnt'work for everyone but works for me.

I have a policy where I never EVER speak to my exes after we break up. They all know about it so after the break up they aren't surprised. Normally when I see them (which I do because often we have friends in common) they are hostile, glare at me and say things behind my back. I just ignore them, pretend they don't exist and walk on past - I'm not mean or anything, I just don't talk to them or notice them. Pisses the hell out of them ironically.

I find indifference is always a stronger message than love, like, dislike or hate.

So I'd just walk by. If you find people NEED to say hi, I guess just say hello and then find a reason to move on. I've never been hostile but I see no point to continue any conversation that might be started past "hi". That happened once when a clueless friend waved me over when he was talking to my ex boyfriend who he adores and we were REALLY uncomfortable and so it was like "er hi". And then I got glared at. :shrugs:

Hope that's feedback you wanted. If not, I tried :)

PS: I love this icon too!

Wow, yea the whole friend draggin ya over to the ex thing has happened to me as well. GeeeeZ, I try to stay friends w/ them, it doesn't usually help because of the sad truth that they are infact "Ex's for a reason" as one of my friends puts it. I kinda just play it by ear once I do run into that situation, I test the waters, then take it from there. I just don't know if there's "Ex Ediquete"...
