poem: please

Jan 05, 2002 13:28

Please whisper your soothing words softly in my ear
as I'm afraid I might drown.
This shell isn't impenetrable, but
easily torn and
worn out.

Please extend your helping hand out to me
for I'm afraid I might fall.
My skin is intact, but
it has been scrapped and
bloodied before.
I don't want to fill my lungs with water
I don't want to be left behind.
I don't want to be disqualified from their race,
I just want to calm your mind.
