Yes, I am aware that 'technically' it isn't 'spring' yet. But today the weather is warm (upper 70s) and the sun was shining. My camellias in front of the house have begun to open. I was worried I had lost all the buds to that horrid Polar Vortex cold snap...but no, the first bright scarlet made its appearance this morning. It makes it somehow just feel like Spring.
You have to admit, it makes you feel happy <3
In keeping with my usual manic mood that accompanies such delightful changes of season ... I went on a mad cleaning binge. Not being one who can stay indoors too long however, it only entailed one room, LOL. I did some work on the screen porch. I did dishes and cleaned the parrot cage and straightened the kitchen. But it was the living room where I took out my joie de vivre. I get bored. So I decided while I was moving things to clean under them and return the television and parrot to their rightful places (they were displaced by Christmas) I should just brighten things up and rearrange the whole room.
It was fun! Exciting. Different! And I am amazed at how comfortable I am with the results. The parrot returned to her corner near the front windows... bright light, and a clear view of all comings and goings, plus she can watch tv. The tv is back in its corner, with my lovely bright persimmon chair between them and adjacent to the kitchen pass-through window, Under the front windows beside Scooter I put the love seat with its plushy cushions, and the small end table. And the long sofa closes that "L" from the end table parallel to my antique dry sink with all the seashells and David. It forms an informal 'wall' between coming in the front door and the actual living room and leaves a clear walkway from the hall through the living room to the 'misc'/nameless/ everything room that leads into the kitchen.
I am sure that little room was supposed to be a dining room, but I don't have a table small enough to fit in there, and since my big mahogany table fits so perfectly in the kitchen dining area, it seems a waste of space to have two dining rooms. The plan, someday, is for it to be a library/writing room - guest room. With a nice daybed or sleeper sofa, my writing desk, and lots of bookcases. Right now it has two bookcases, David' old childhood desk, and the china hutch. Kind of an odd space, LOL.
If you have ideas for it... be sure to let me know :D
