Giving me a piece of paper recognizing a contribution says "Thanks". That I appriciate.
Giving me $20 bucks for saving the company 65K, says something else.
Each day I give an extra thirty minutes at the start of the day to insure that my databases are updated in time for the bosses to see them upon arriving. That is worth a good 20 bucks a day. Free. Not asking for anything. The 20 buck card just got me....
