Last weekend was good stuff all around. Went to the BOA Regional Championships in Flag Staff, AZ. Performing in the Sky Dome on the Northern AZ field (astroturf it was) was really nice. The sound was about 3x louder in the woodwind section, which was really cool. The only problem was that at the end of the show, no one had any stamina points left, which made us die like a Level 2 Elf against a Spider Queen. [and yes, I have no idea what that's supposed to mean other than that we just ran out of gas] But overall, we finished in 12th out of 23, which i really good considering we were like 21st in terms of size and just played through our show for the first time less than 24 hours earlier.
And of course the bus rides were fun, with music playing and people dancing and Truth or Dare or Imitate an Animal. I could get into that, but I'd rather not.
The suites were sweet [pun intended]. Went to Ashley's room and played on the 5 Twister mats that were set up with like 20 other people, which was probably a fire hazard [but no one cared]. Then it was some Halo, Swordball, and Warthog Wars along the Shoals of Despair, in which I was an ass as usual. Then a bit of poker which would have been better if we could have gotten some people to play. All finished off with some TV and random phone calls. Good stuff.
And to sweeten the deal, my grandma came from Phoenix to watch us perform. She was amazed by the whole thing and said that we did really well. But then it got better when I found out that she was going to stay here for a week, and then to my Aunt's house in LA next week. So now she's here and it kinda makes everything a little easier for everyone.
