Victory is mine. Well, okay, not really, but today kicked ass. I got my volunteer hours out of the way, shopped for cat furniture and took the dogs on a long walk on the bike trail. That was almost marred when Barnabus lunged at a jogger. Blah. While scary, I took it as a training oppertunity and we went to the skateboarding park for training. That went perfectly and I plan to go back weekly until he is doing better with the prey drive bit. He's too big of a dog to not have him under control where zooming things are concerned.
But! That's not the awesome part. Background: I'm applying for a two year program to earn my Bachelor's Degree in Family and Human Services. I've applied to the University of Oregon. Today, I come home and I'm talking to Brandon. I'm saying how I'm starting to get twitchy that I haven't heard from that and I should know if I get an interview soon, as they're supposed to let you know the final results of said interview in April. Reminded by the conversation, I decided to check the e-mail I gave them, just in case. I had an e-mail from there. I have an interview in April. It's not a guarantee, of course, but it means I have a good shot.
I have it all mapped out -if- I get in. Two years of school equals a Bachelor Degree. A BA + months of experience as a CWP volunteer should hopefully add up to an eventual Child Welfare position. The State will pay for my Masters (Licensed Clinical Social Worker), if I want one by then and that's that. Who knows if it happen exactly like that and go that smoothly, but one can hope. Life is certainly looking up.
