I thought I was descreetly loosing weight but my stepmother just came in and she called my job (the only thing that means anything to me. Not legally? I thought you are 18? Why not? Where do you live? (Here you can be out by 16).

I say if you are not financially dependant and there is nothing substantial (like trust funds, family connections, access to things you need, etc) holding you back, or if you decide those things aren't worth it, do it. If i didn't have those things holding me back and I have the means to make it happen I would do it in a heartbeat in my own situation.

One thing though, if you are doing it just to isolate yourself from getting help I would reconsider. I am the kind of person who me being in my house vs me being alone has little consequence on my eating behavior as I don't give a shit what my parents say and they aren't going to be able to make me do shit to eat. Because of this my reasons for trying to get out aren't food based at all and I feel it is based on something that is going to be helping me. Now I can't judge you for whether you want to do this or not but I would reconsider it if this is influencing you.

"She keeps telling me graduating high school doesn't even matter"

Okay. Some people do great with little or do education, I am not putting these people down. But I happen to think education is one of the most important things in life. If you can educate yourself without school, that's all good, but most can't get the same level without formal education. I was told the same thing but about it not mattering compared to being healthy. You have to make your own decision, but I'd say if you are near death take care of that first or your education won't really mean much anyway. But no, it matters very much. With the risk of sounding like an anti-drug commercial, if you plan on living your life, I would say stay in school.

If you need medication take it, or at least try it, especially if you never have before. But read up about it YOURSELF, don't let anybody else (including a psychiatrist) try to tell you what and which is right for you without taking into consideration your opinion. If you need any help with that I, and many others here are pretty proficient in that area. But don't just decide not to take it because it's 'medication'. That's ignorant and alot of people do that when alot of people are helped by it when it is prescribed correctly for their symptoms. Before you go on any medication also make sure the person knows and has explained what they are using it to treat. Get a thorough diagnosis/evaluation/etc and talk to the person doing it and look up the symptoms for whatever they say. DONT be pushed around into getting second rate care or attention with this. Also don't freak out too much when you read about side effects, those are only POSSIBLE side effects and most go away if they even do show up. It might take awhile to find the right dose, too, so don't worry if you're tired or something, you might just have to move it to taking at nighttime.
