Question: If a Black woman comes up to me and says, "You look so much like _______ (another Asian woman). I can't tell you people apart", how is that any less racist than me saying, "Oh, you look exactly like _________ (some other Black woman in the department). I can't tell you people apart"?

My mother says this isn't racist and agrees that to other people, it's really hard to differentiate between two Asians.

I was seriously pissed off, because I would never dream about saying something like that because I think it's racist.

But you know what? I think that sometimes, Asian people (particularly from my parents' generation), just make excuses of the racist things that other people say to us.
