Canon Character and Series: Shi Ryuuki, Saiunkoku Monogatari
In-Game Name: Shi Ryuuki
Age: 19
Gender: Male
Position & Ship: Airman, Serenity.
Appearance:
Standing a little taller than average with long, light brown hair and amber eyes, Shi Ryuuki could be described as handsome. Though in the moments when he acts like a child, he often brings to mind a cute puppy.
At home, Ryuuki usually wears a lot of purple, it being the colour that represents his family and all. For now, while he's away from home, Ryuuki avoids the colour like the plague and wears all black. Because black is, like, totally not purple and if anyone was looking for Shi Ryuuki they would expect him to be wearing purple and not black...right? Even Ryuuki isn't used to seeing himself in black when he catches his reflection, so his plan is obviously fool-proof.
Personality:
Ryuuki is a gentle person who wants to make the people around him happy. But because he tends to over-do things, his attempts to make people happy end up, more often than not, blowing up in his face (or someone's face, anyways). He's at times childish and always impulsive, and so has a tendency to say the first thing that comes to mind with varying results. The fact that he sometimes says things that sound perfectly innocent to him but not to anyone else only compounds this problem.
He doesn't actually have too many skills that would be of help on an airship, but if Ryuuki has one thing, it's a lot of heart. If he sets his mind to do something, he will try his best to get it right. Again, due to his over-enthusiasm, results tend to vary.
Because of his childhood, he's hesitant to approach people and, even when he does, instinctively expects them to turn him away. So when people do accept him, Ryuuki tends to think that it's all right he's not their most important person as long as they don't leave him alone, and will, in fact, not push to become their most important person afraid that he might cause them to leave by doing so.
Given his childhood, one would expect him to hate people, but that's not the case at all. For some inexplicable reason, Ryuuki likes people, even the ones that don't like him back.
Ryuuki is also quite very guillible, and is likely to fall for a similar trick not once, or twice but three times. Usually, if he figures out he's been tricked, he'll retaliate in petty ways. (Read: pranks)
Yet, though he seldom acts it, Ryuuki's actually quite intelligent and capable of cunning. But he doesn't often choose to do this.
Abilities/Weapons:
Ryuuki holds one half of a pair of enchanted swords, the one named "Bakuya", given to him by his older brother. It can sense the presence of malicious spirits and can be used to kill them. It can also be used to break any barriers or spells but without the second sword, "Kanshou", Bakuya's power in this area is halved. Rumours say it can also sense when the holder of "Kanshou" is in danger, but since very few people have been able to wield one sword without the other, no one knows if this is true.
He was taught to fight with a sword since a young age. The man who had taught him how to use a sword was forbidden from training fully grown men because he had a tendency to run them into the ground. Needless to say, Ryuuki has very good stamina. (How Ryuuki managed to survive this training without suffering mental trauma is a mystery.)
For some inexplicable reason, he has a nearly animal-like ability to sense the prescence of people he really likes when they are near.
Some people with Shi blood can guide spirits or calm minds by playing the qin. Ryuuki does not know how to play, so whether or not he has actually inherited this is also a mystery.
How well can your character hack?: Not at all. It wasn't something he ever needed to do.
Weaknesses:
Because of the abuse he suffered as a child, Ryuuki cann't sleep well at night if he sleeps alone because it reminds him of being locked up. Another by-product of his childhood is a tendency to doubt himself and trouble with interacting with people normally.
As the child of a noble family, Ryuuki has next-to-zero life skills. He understands politics and music and he can name every single type of cutlery and its use, but if you gave him a mop he would have no idea what to do with it. ("What's this? Eh? You use it to wash floors? How does it work?") But at least he's willing to learn...? Though, another one of his weaknesses is a tendency to go overboard due to too much enthusiasm...
He's also guillible and is liable to believe anything he hears almost always.
He also has a soft-spot for pandas (though how this could be exploited is unknown)
History:
A native of Bellcius, Ryuuki was born to the rich and influencial Shi family.
Ryuuki was the son of his father's sixth wife. His mother hated him, and constantly abused him. Because he was the youngest, his other half brothers also picked on him. Sometimes, they'd lock him in a dark room for long periods of time without company or food. (This eventually lead to Ryuuki's fear of being in the dark alone.) He was the youngest child, the most useless son, and the one even the maids sometimes forgot to feed.
Except to his second eldest half-brother, Seien. Seien had been Ryuuki's protector and the only person who cared about him.
His mother eventually committed suicide after using some poisoned make-up which rotted her face. Ryuuki confessed that even though he didn't cry for her, he still felt as if it was better if she were still alive. But at least he still had his aniue, his big brother.
Then one day, Seien disapeared.
As the years went by, Ryuuki became notorious for having, according to rumour, bedded every single male servant working in the Shi manor and for being frivolous and lazy. In other words: completely useless.
It was exactly what Ryuuki wanted them to think.
When he was younger, Ryuuki believed that his older brother would return someday. But after years of waiting, Ryuuki has come to the conclusion that, that wasn't happening. Instead, Ryuuki was going to find him. If he remained the eternally, useless son, then no one would care if he disapeared, right?
And so, with bags that had been packed for a while, Ryuuki set off to find his long lost brother. But first, he needs to find an airship that will take him...
Misc.: He's actually bisexual. (Because this didn't come up anywhere else...)
