So, I had a great Christmas, how about you? I had lots of family over, and we had a great time, but I still found time to watch the Doctor Who Christmas special. And I really enjoyed it, although it gave me a lot to think about. Here are some of my thoughts and a bit of meta.

YES, YES, SO MANY ROSE-WILL-ALWAYS-BE-THE-DOCTOR'S-BELOVED REFERENCES. THEY WERE EVERYWHERE. CANNOT BE DENIED.

I agree with almost all of this. I really enjoyed the episode but I think you've said it exactly: it was too clever. The stakes never seemed high and there were no consequences, which makes so much of the Doctor's past character seem meaningless, which is really unfair.

YES! They are my OTP forever, and I am so happy that a new episode has given me more shippy material! :D :D :D

But yeah, the logistics of this plot pokes holes in so many past episodes it's not even funny. I know Moffat's new catchphrase is "Time can be rewritten," but I think this is taking it a bit far.
