Season 5 Thoughts

Jul 07, 2010 15:06

And I was just starting to get used to having a new episode every week too. Now we have to wait five months for more... drat!

In the meantime, here are some random thoughts about the series...

I. I recently found this candidate for the main promotional photo. Looks like they tried fake running after all... I'm kind of glad they didn't go with this, Matt's fake running looks sort of robotic. And Karen looks like she's jogging sideways behind him... lol. I do like the crack in the background, though.

II. Meme time! Answers are based only on season 5.

1. The first character I fell in love with: Amy, at least in the first few episodes. I got really defensive of her when the Doctor told her off about the Forget button, and I liked her in the Angel two-parter... until the end of that, when she basically asked for a one-night stand before her wedding. The way she treated Rory in the next few episodes left me not loving her as much and finding it hard to connect with her, and I still feel that way a bit at the end of the series.

2. The character I never expected to love as much as I do now: Rory. I was not impressed by him in the Eleventh Hour, he struck me as not very interesting. And then he came back for the vampire/fish-people episode and started calling the Doctor out and defending Amy with broomsticks and basically being an awesome, adorkable boyfriend, and I loved him. And then he died and was erased from existence, and it turned out the best part of the finale was getting him back again, stronger and more capable than ever. :D Rory=<3

3. The character everyone else loves that I don’t: There's been a lot of division of opinion this season about characters, so I know not everybody loves River Song, but enough people do that I suppose it counts. I don't hate her, but she did get on my nerves, especially in the first part of the Angel episodes. I don't like her flaunting her knowledge of the Doctor's future and the implication that they might be married irks me pretty much every time it comes up.

4. The character I love that everyone else hates: The only characters I really love at this point are the Doctor and Rory, and I don't think enough people hate them for either of them to qualify, thank goodness.

5. The character I would kiss anytime: I wouldn't mind kissing the Doctor, but considering his reaction when Amy came on to him that's probably never going to happen. XD

6. The character I’d want to be like: Rory, because he's an ordinary guy who discovered his potential and became amazing. I love him. The character I AM the most like, however, is probably Craig.

7. The character I’d slap: The Dream Lord, for being a douche, or Ambrose, for letting herself be goaded into murder. Probably Alaya, too, for wanting to be murdered in order to start a war.

8. A pairing that I love: Amy/Rory... adorable! Rory is so devoted to her, I hope next season Amy repays some of that devotion.

9. A pairing that I despise: Doctor/River. Despise is a strong word, but I really don't like the dynamic of their relationship. Meeting out of order, someone is always going to have the upper hand and flaunt their knowledge of the future in front of the other. That irritates me.

10. Favorite character: By the end of this season, the Eleventh Doctor has come out on top. He's just so dorky and funny and completely alien, and really fun to watch. I loved watching him manically use the Vortex manipulator in the Big Bang, and it's funny how he makes up plans as he goes along, then seems surprised when he pulls it off. I am really excited to see him, Rory, and Amy travelling together next season. :D

III. One last thought... is it just me, or were we promised to see more of the TARDIS this season? Like, they made a big deal about there being stairs in the console room that led to other places inside the TARDIS, and I thought early on someone said we would actually visit some of those other rooms... but all we've really seen is various parts of the control room. (Granted, the controle room is a lot bigger than it used to be.) What's up with that? I'd really love to see some other rooms, even in just a few short scenes.

That's all I have for now... I probably won't be posting as often now there are no new episodes to react to. Right now I'm working on some new videos, as well as a fanfic or two that I'm hoping will make it to the web sometime this year. Also I need to catch up on my reading, especially at Teaspoon, which I have been woefully neglecting lately... see you soon!
