So. Went down to Borders yesterday with a 40% off coupon to buy my very own copy of the Complete Specials Boxset. When I got to the checkout counter the lady recognized the Doctor immediately (this is somewhat rare, in America) and said something about how awesome and sexy David is. :D To which I said "Yeah, I'm really sad he's off the show now." She then said she wasn't all that interested in 'the new guy' saying, "I wouldn't take an aspirin that Doctor prescribed me. He looks like my kid brother." Aww, poor Matt.
She hadn't seen any of the new episodes yet, so I assured her that 'the new guy' was okay, and that in terms of looks, his companion was really hot. (Which, come on. She is.) She replied that was interesting, she hadn't much liked the looks of the last Doctor's companion. I asked which one she meant, and she said, "Oh, not the one who went on to do the hooker series, she was great," (LOL Billie XD) "but the older one with the large nose." Apparently Donna was too frumpy for her. Of course I defended Donna, and the lady said she liked her personality, just not her looks. Aww.
See, this is why I'm involved in an online community- to have conversations about the show that are based on more than, "Who's the hottest?" XD This is what most of my real-life DW conversations amount to, unfortunately. But at least I have my shiny new boxset now.
And, in other news... Cold Blood. Somehow I am not as happy to have guessed correctly this time.
But before we discuss the tragedy, here are a few other things:
-Amy seems to have a thing for the word 'clingy'. She's so defensive about that, I get the feeling that she feels that way and tries to hide it by diverting the attention to other people.
-I was sure the Doctor was going to say something about Eliott's dad and Amy taking up weapons, but that didn't happen. Huh.
-I couldn't bring myself to feel too bad about Alaya's death. She wanted to die so badly, I think if no one had stooped to kill her she would have attacked them and forced them to kill her in self defense. That doesn't excuse Ambrose's actions, but seriously. No love for her and her sister.
- Amy looked like she wanted to take a nap during the peace talks. XD
-Why the smeg was the Doctor able to stick his hand in the crack and come out unharmed? (While I was watching it with my sister, she commented that he was going to lose another hand, LOL.)
And then, of course, there's Rory. Or rather, there isn't, because in addition to dying he's been erased from existence. What's sad is, the Doctor was already reaching for the sonic screwdriver when Rory dove in front of him. If Rory had done nothing, I think the Doctor would have disarmed the weapon like he did the others, and everything would have been fine.
Amy pleading to be allowed to go back to Rory and the Doctor forcing her to safety was heartbreaking, as was the moment she realized she was going to forget him. Rory brings out the best in Amy, and I'm afraid now that we've lost him, we've lost her too, in a way. I've heard rumors that he will be back for the finale though, so here's me hoping everything turns out well...
Oh, and the TARDIS. Expected to explode sometime in the future. D: That can't be permanant though, can it?
