Last Full Week

Dec 16, 2011 13:14

Before the holiday break. And speaking of, Miss No Spine here, grew a tiny pair, and called HR, asking if there was any way they would be amenable to offering me some kind of holiday pay, seeing as how they are shutting down the entire office the last week of December. As a result, I won't even be eligible for Christmas pay because the stupid fecking temp agency has these stupid fecking rules. Hopefully, something pleasant will happen on that front. Any dinero is better than no dinero.

Moving on.

So. After rigorous stalking in the usual channels, there hasn't been a peep re: Jack being the secret guest last night, so my decision to stay home and save feels much better.

In the land of Coldplay tickets, I had two computers up on ticketmaster for the presale this morning - and both yielded completely shit results. It's a presale for chrissakes! They're supposed to allow the opportunity for better seats for the dedicated fans, not just "slightly less shitty." Fucking ticketmaster. *throws up hands* Needless to say, tickets were not purchased. Will try again next month for the January L.A. shows. If I don't already live there by May, then I'll need an excuse to roadtrip anyway.

What else. Oh, I'm working on three little drabbles for the three OTP's. Hopefully, those will be finished within the next week, and I'm also trying to decide what the annual Christmas poem will be about this year.

Oh!! And! Before I wrap up, I wanted to share with you all my favorite fudgery! A few years ago, a college pal and I decided to go check out Virginia. Like, the whole state. Mainly, because I was undecided whether to move to Williamsburg (potential school. in my head.) or to SF. I'm in love with the romanticism and history of the state, being a Colonial American neeeeerd, and there were several cities I wanted to visit. Pal's aunt lived in a D.C. suburb, so we base camped it there, and visited Mt. Vernon, Fredericksburg, Charlotte, Jamestown/Williamsburg. During the Fredericksburg leg, we popped into a little candy shoppe whereupon I discovered the most. delicious. fudge. I've ever had. Ever. The trip quickly became a Fudge Trip, because had to try fudge in each town in order to compare. No other chocolatier came close - not even the impressive olde timey Wythe Candy Shop in Williamsburg (though I was mightily impressed with their candied apples) - and since then I have bemoaned the fact that I cannot find fudge that is as equally impressive as the fudge in Fredericksburg.

Was poking around on the googles last night, and guess what I found? That little candy shoppe in Fredericksburg! And you know what else? They ship!! I'm having a pound or two sent home for Christmas, and I hope it's just as amazing as I remember. Do not be deceived by it's less than impressive storefront. Though it be slight in appearances, it's the quality that counts. And they've got that in spades. <3

And now, luncheon.

work, random, christmas, holidays, coldplay, nerdery
