I'm trying to see the good in him, I really am. But you're right. He's a total jerk who gets off on feeling more powerful than others by belittling(sp) them.

re: chapped asses--Oh yeah. Me too. I am toooootally in the same boat as you there. It's the extremists who get media coverage that make Christianity look like an intolerant, scary cult. Which it isn't! It's supposed to be about tolerance, love and forgiveness and that message has gotten so lost and muddled that it seems as if we're the opposite now! It's very frustrating. :(

Re: your whole rant about intolerant liberal Californians...

Yes. So much yes on that. I don't want to get into a rant of my own, so I'll just say again. Yes.

Are you in LA? That's where I am. It's certainly a change from Oregon (though not as much of a change as Oklahoma, I'd imagine, since Oregon's a blue state).

One of my co-workers once was loudly talking with the lady in the cubicle right in front of me and stating the simple fact that anyone would have to be an absolute idiot to believe in God. Fortunately that guy was known around the office for being a bit of a moron.

Oakland, actually. The change for has been amazing, eye-opening, shocking, fun, and odd. ;)

Ggggrrrr, LJ ate my first comment! :(

I think the guy has a huge ego problem if he has to put other people down in order to feel better about himself.

He's probably never been to Oklahoma, so naturally, he would know exactly how many stupid people live there; clearly a sign of how well-educated he is himself. /sarcsam

No, seriously, the first place we've ever lived in this country was Pleasanton. I loved it, but people's ignorance boggled my mind. When they heard I'm originally from Germany, several people asked if Hitler was still in power? Imagine my look of incredulity...

O noesss, bad lj!

Oh yeah. He's awful. A couple of business men in suits came in the other day for a meeting. And our office is pretty casual, and Mr. X was in the kitchen, trying to joke with me and a couple others and says, "Did you see those suits out front? I told them, 'Whoa! Suits! If your ties didn't give you away I'd think you were Mormon or something!'"

I'm not Mormon, myself. But I am so offended by this guy's anti-Mormon sentiments that I could hurl.

Hitler? Really? Uggggh. ><

Haha! We had an exchange student from Germany in high school. She once told us that someone asked her if they had trees in Germany.

Can I just hug you?

*hugs*

I've found recently that it's not just something seen in California. This type of attitude is common, unfortunately.

So much for tolerance. (I'm originally from Kansas, so I get this type of thing a lot, as well.)

Yes of course. :)

Ugh. I suppose dealing with this crap is a part of life, but it still sucks.
