This has been a big topic on the net lately. I'm sure some of you have heard about the Gosperats. They're a Japanese band formed by two members of the Gospellers and three members of Rats and Star. So what about them that's bringing to to the spot light? This. Have you noticed what they're wearing? Did you know they also perform that way live too?
Next, it should be mentioned that this is not done because of prejudice or racism or anything.
It's so interesting Japan's perceptions of other ethnicities. Because of their homogenous society they just don't have the same insight as other countries do. So when they do something like this, it's done naively. In a way it's kind of like paying hommage, I guess. I personally wouldn't agree to it, but hey, that's me. I wish I had known about this sooner. This would've made a great addition to my discussion on the fad to be black in Japanese culture for my Japanese pop culture presentation on fashion/image in Japanese music.
So now that you see this, my friends of Japanese culture, what do you think?
