This week I drew enough to cover the floor of my living room.
This isn't as big of an accomplishment as it sounds: my living room is the size of two twin beds pushed together, and I went to lifedrawing Sunday and Wednesday, so most of what's covering the floor is large sketches of naked people. I'm almost done with a large portrait, 14 ink illustrations for a young readers' chapter book, an ink and watercolor character illustration, a computer-colored piece, and 4 Metanoia pages, so I'm probably due to cover the floor next week, too.
How'd I do it? Well, I put myself on a regular schedule. Waking up at six and going to bed at ten, spending four hours a day on promoting myself and figuring out how can has internship, and six hours working - a regular 9-5, with an hour break for lunch & dishes and a break at 3 because otherwise I was going a bit nuts.
It's a bit too intense of a schedule for me, but I've got an idea of what will work, now. I have to dedicate a couple hours each weekday to business stuff, or I'd never get it done, I hate promoting myself. Working on business stuff when I've worn myself out on artwork isn't such a great idea. Getting up and going to bed with the sun is a fantastic idea, and so is working in the early morning. I think next week's schedule will be business 7-9, art 9-5 with aforementioned breaks, and then 5-10 as me-time. Weekends, I'm supposed to take care of the house and myself. Today I'm going to the zoo and Japanese garden for a nice long wander and sketch, and Sunday I'll probably go to lifedrawing again. I'll probably get my old artwork sorted and put on my new shelves, too.
And maybe at some point I'll draw something for myself.
