11:16pm: It's 11:16 and I need to get my person to bed! Not that I have anything super exciting to report today - thinks for a bit... Yeah I got nothing.
The weather has turned towards Spring, it's supposed to be in the mid-20s and beyond this weekend, which is kind of a worry because I'm pretty sure it's still winter-time, technically. Although I did hear that a cold front might come in mid-next week, so who knows what the climate is doing?
There was some good news today actually! A few days ago a baby humpback whale got stuck in some fishing line, but mid afternoon today the marine rescue people managed to free him from the line and direct him back out of the harbour to the open ocean to continue on his migration. I wonder why he was in the harbour in the first place, maybe taking a break from swimming? Who knows, but I'm glad he made it. The last few times whales have been on the news the outlook has not been so good.
So yeah, happy animal news always brightens the day :O)
But as mentioned it's late and I have to head to work tomorrow, so I better Meme and run!
The Friday Five
23/8/24 These questions were written by Dreamwidth user goddess47, who adds: "if you're not in the US, change the dates to your country's last election."
1. If you are old enough, are you registered to vote? I am indeed! I don't remember actually registering, but I must have because my little bro didn't register himself so missed out on voting in some election. By not registering though he didn't get a letter warning that he was going to be fined since voting is compulsory in Aussieland.
2. Did you vote in the November 2023 election 2022 Election? I forget what actual day it was, but yes since as above it's compulsory, although I'd like to think that I would vote even if it wasn't, because that's how you get your voice heard.
3. Do you vote in primaries? Don't have those here, the party decides who will be their leader, which is why, particularly in past years there's been different Prime Ministers here without a vote.
4. Do you plan to vote in the November September 2024 election? This is actually a Council Election, but it's still compulsory, it's also caused more bruhahah than usual because the Liberal Party (note: not actual liberal, they're conservatives in Aus) actually forgot to enroll their 140 of their candidates in various council electorates. So yeah...talk about an own goal there. Although party alignment doesn't matter as much in Council Elections, still are their faces red!
5. Do you vote early, by mail, in person, or some other way? I tend to vote early in person, because they often have a polling booth in the Community space above the library, so I figure what the Hell. However, you can't vote early in Council elections, so I'm gonna need to do that on the day. Which fortunately is a Saturday in Aus because of the whole compulsory ting.
Right better run.
