9:41pm: Indeed yes... it's our last night in Fiji already! Ah well, all things must end, and it's not like I don't like my job, although I have to say I'm not looking forward to the colder weather though! It'll be back to jumpers and long pants for me!
Moving along, today was a relaxing day, except for the attempted snorkeling, it's the first time I've ever worn flippers and I'm not a very co-ordinated person, so trying to walk out to deep enough water was difficult and then when I tried to actually swim and kick with them they were too heavy on my feet! I gave up on the flippers and put on the reef shoes figuring I could just stick my head under the water with the snorkeling mask on. (I decided not to try and use the snorkel itself, it looked uncomfortable) Unfortunately, I mustn't have put the mask on tight enough because water leaked into it, then got in my eyes and it rather burned with the salt, so I couldn't really see anyway. Also unfortunately, unlike yesterday it was super windy, so it was impossible to really see through the water to the sand bottom. I did manage to see a piece of coral, but that was it :O( Not to mention the current was really strong too, so any time I tried to swim I got pulled away.
Mum on the other hand has been snorkeling before, so she was able to get around and saw some fish, some sea snakes as well as a blue starfish and some coral.
It was a bit concerning when on the way back a whole bunch of waves appeared and ended up sort of, but not quite grazing my knee on some coral - or possibly rock. It's hard to tell and you always hear horror stories about what coral cuts can do to a person. But the redness has disappeared now and there was no actual skin breakage so I think I'm good. I put some Savlon on it as well.
Apart from that adventure, it was a quiet day, Mum and I went swimming in the pool after an outdoor shower to get the sand and whatever off. Although, more families with kids have shown up at the hotel, it was rather annoying this morning at breakfast when this kid kept blowing bubbles in his drink, seriously, that's a sound like nails on a chalkboard!
I also attempted another crossword in the book, the first one, since I figured that one might be easier and it sort of was, but there were quite a few clues that are just way out of left field. I think I'll stick with the Sydney Morning Herald crosswords!
So yes, by this time tomorrow we'll be back in chilly Sydney Australia, but we don't need to be at the airport until around 1pm, so we're going to stop by an even fancier hotel on our way to the airport tomorrow. It's the kind with overwater bungalows, so that will be fun.
It does mean having to get to bed earlier tonight so we can get an early start, so I better wrap this up here! I wrote two McFly July prompts this evening so I want to post those before I turn in.
Oh and despite applying sunscreen I somehow managed to get a slight sunburn, my sunscreen is still in date, so I'm not sure what that's all about, I didn't stay in the sun any longer than my mother who has fairer skin than I do, so it's a mystery!
