10:04pm: Even though Australia's like 13 hours ahead I still felt the need to begin updating this entry at this historic time to celebrate the temporal conjunction point of the entire universe...aka November 12th. :OP
Not that anything particularly momentous happened today, except that it's super hot today and it's almost that time of the month which I'm sure is the reason I got such a nasty headache this afternoon. I took some paracetamol for it when I got home from work (I forewent ice skating today unfortunately) and it didn't do shit! Very annoying because I had to wait for a few hours before taking some Nurofen, although considering they've put out these new paracetamol/nurofen tablets on the market maybe I didn't? Although I wasn't actually sure I had any nurofen, but lucky for me, I did and now my poor head feels much better.
Anywho, moving on, still loving the new laptop! I notice that the keyboard is the sort where food can't get in between the keys, which is a relief because as one of those terrible people who eat while typing so now I don't have to worry about the keys getting stuck! Or maybe I could just stop eating over my keyboard, LOL. :OP
What else to report, well, I've made the cupcakes for Mrs S's party tomorrow. I hope they like them. I shall make the frosting tomorrow morning and then frost the cupcakes last thing, otherwise it tends to harden up too much, at least that's what I've found.
Note to self, I need to ask Mrs S if I can borrow her copy of Microsoft Office because I didn't realise this, but it wasn't actually included with my laptop, do'h! And no way am I forking out for the new Office it costs almost as much as the laptop to get it! Geeze, I just need Word and Excel I'm not asking for a lot. (I suppose I could get one of those free office programs, but I don't feel like it, so I won't. :OP)
Finally, before I get to the Memes...I've forgotten what I was going to type! Because of the headache I've been left super sleepy and rather ditzy. Um...oh! My new sandals...I'm somewhat uncertain about them because I kind of forgot that I can't wear superflat shoes without my orthodics in them because my feet end up hurting. Hopefully, I'll be able to wear them then, because the shoes do seem a little loose, but the next size down was too tight so...
OK, so Memes...man I've let them go for so long I have no idea what the last one I did! It seems it was from July so...

8/07/16
:Hotel California (1977):
1) Composer Don Henley says this song is about the "journey from innocence to experience." Where do find yourself on that journey? Are you more innocent, or experienced? Innocent. I've never been drunk or gone skinny dipping or being to a music festival or anything like that, because I'm seriously boring. :OP
2) The lyrics refers to the "warm smell of colitas." Do you know what it is that the Eagles noticed in the air? I thought it was colidas? Like Pina colidas... I guess not. It's probably some sort of weed then. :OP
3) The girl in the song had her head turned by luxury, including jewelry from Tiffany's and Mercedes Benz autos. Do you consider yourself materialistic? Ha ha, a bit, I do love my things...but I'm a cheap skate in general so I don't spend a heap of money on them...but I don't like to let them go.
4) This recording has been lauded by music publications for for its long guitar solo. Are you good on the guitar? Ha ha, only air guitar. :OP My father can play the guitar though! He's really good, he used to be in a band and he still plays at one church service a month with my mother as the singer.
5) There's an error in the lyrics and Don Henley can get a bit testy when interviewers bring it to his attention. Here's the lyric: "So I called up the captain and said, 'Please bring me your wine.' He said, 'We haven't had that spirit here since 1969.'" Do you know what's wrong with it? Yes, wine isn't a spirit, the line should have been "He said 'We haven't had that vintage here since 1969'" so the rhyme would be intact. Wouldn't be the first time this sort of thing has happened though. As my mother points out Port au Prince actually rhymes with 'France' rather than the typical prounciation. Although, as I pointed out 'Port au Prince, I wanna catch a glance' would have worked there.
6) Known as the Eagles' drummer, Henley now spends less time at his drum kit. Sitting at that angle for an extended period of time hurts his back. Sam believes this proves all those warnings she heard from her parents about good posture are true. Do you pay attention to your posture? Every so often, but due to laziness I can't ever sit properly for any length of time. You should see how I'm lying right now with my laptop, I'm sure it's a crime.
7) Joe Walsh is considered the wild man of the Eagles. Think of your circle of friends. Who is the most unpredictable? Uh...hmm...we're all pretty straight-laced.
8) In 1977, Star Wars premiered. How many Star Wars movies have you seen? None at least not all the way through, although for some reason I did read the novelisation of The Force Awakens...which is really weird when you think about it. I wanted to find out about BB-8 though!
9) Random question: "Nosocomephobia" is the fear of hospitals. Are you nosocomephobic? I don't think so...although I don't like the idea of hospitals too much because I'm worried someone might throw up in front of me there. I almost didn't visit Dad after his neck operation because of that. I grew a backbone though. :OP

:Sara Smile (1976):
1) This was Hall & Oates' first #1 hit. Can you name another of their popular songs? Uh...I such at remembering who sung what, so I got nothin'.
2) Darryl Hall and Sara Allen were a couple for 30 years, and he wrote this at the beginning of their long relationship. That makes this a very public love letter. Are you good at writing love letters? Would you rather tell the person how you feel, face to face? Or do you let your actions speak louder than your words? Never written a love letter...I can't really imagine doing so either, although I do like writing, so maybe I would? In general though I do better face to face or doing something nice for someone.
3) In the song, Darryl and Sara are waiting for the sunrise. Did you see the sunrise this morning? Or did you sleep in? I didn't sleep in because I had to go to work, but I didn't have to get up early enough to see the sunrise thankfully!
4) Both Hall & Oates hail from the Philadelphia area. Hall is a native of suburban Pottstown, which was a stop on the Reading/Philadelphia rail line made famous in Monopoly. Do you like playing board games? I do! Although I haven't had anyone to do so with. Hmmm, that should be an activity to do with friends! Get onto it me.
5) John Oates grew up a few miles away from Pottstown in North Wales. Decades ago, North Wales' biggest employer was a cigar factory. Do you like the smell of a cigar? I don't think I've actually been in the presence of a cigar, but I don't imagine I would. I hate the smell of cigarettes that's for sure.
6) Daryl Hall now hosts a music show, Live from Daryl's House, that you catch free online. Do you typically watch shows from your computer, pad, phone or TV set? I'm old school and watch stuff on TV, this is primarily because I like to be on the laptop while watching something and I can't do that if I'm watching a show on it. Although, I do have a Blu-Ray player that lets me go on the net so I have been watching stuff online through it.
7) Hall & Oates are currently on tour. Are you seeing/have you seen a concert this summer? I doubt it, unless The Corrs come or something. Generally I don't like concerts.
8) Daryl and John have been friends for 50 years, even living together at the beginning of their careers when money was tight. Another successful duo of the rock era, Simon & Garfunkle, also met as teens but they forever seem to be feuding. What do you think makes for a lasting friendship/partnership? Shared views probably, although a shared sense of humour is probably more important in the end. Gotta be able to laugh at yourselves and each other.
9) Random question: Are you quick to try new things? Ha ha no, I'm a big ol' wuss.

Surf City (1963):
I always thought this was a Beach Boys song, but apparently not!
1) When the song was written, "Surf City" was a fictitious town.* Tell us a song that is set in a real place. Uh that song about Santa Monica Boulevard? Or maybe the one about if you're going to San Francisco be sure to wear some flowers in your hair.
2) In the song, Jan and Dean sing about riding around in a 1934 station wagon, which means the car was 29 years old when the song was recorded. How old is your vehicle? It's from 2008, sadly it's lacking steering wheel controls (you know the buttons that control the radio), but in general it's awesome and runs great. Plus it's green!
3) Are you good on a surf board? Never tried, but I think I can safely say no...my balance is suspect.
4) When you spend time out in the sun, are you careful about applying sunscreen? I'm afraid not, although I don't spend that much time in the sun. I've noticed though that thanks to driving my right upper arm has way more freckles than the left one. Guess I'll have to be a passenger for a while if I want to even that out!
5) Dean's original partner was Arnie Ginsburg. When Dean was drafted into the Army, Arnie didn't feel like waiting so he abandoned show business and went back to college. Today he holds several patents. What is something you wish someone would invent? Hmmm...well, Trump Free World News is on my mind right now, because I really don't think I can watch the news if he's going to show up on it all the time.
6) Jan was a perpetual student who juggled college with recording. He not only graduated from UCLA, he completed two years of medical school at the UC Irvine School of Medicine. Have you ever considered going back to school? Not now, but I did in 2007 to get a library qualification and ended up doing so, although it hasn't done much for me when it comes to getting a job in that area though. Rude!
7) In 1966, Jan was sidelined by a serious car accident. During the years that he was unable to perform, partner Dean became a graphic artist. He designed logos and album covers for Steve Martin, Diana Ross and others. Do you feel you respond most to words, pictures, or music? Hmmm...I'm gonna say words, I do love to read!
8) In 1978, CBS made a TV movie about Jan and Dean. If they approached you about a made-for-TV movie of your life, who would you like to play you? Anne Hathaway, because a person's always idealised in those movies aren't they? :OP
9) Random question: Growing up, how did you learn about the birds and the bees? (From books/the web, from parents, from your friends...) After a student's inaccurate remarks in Year 3 the teacher gave us a lesson using an educational picture book.

:Jamming (1977):
1) In Jamaica, "jamming" means to celebrate. What's going on in your life today that's worth celebrating? I always wondered about that! I thought it was making music or something...Anywho to answer your question my new laptop! :OP
2) The group that became famous as "The Wailers" originally called themselves "The Teenagers." What was trendy when you were a teenager (clothes, music, etc.)? I fear the pants with a skirt look was in when I was a teen (WTF was that), as for music it was what I call "Kitchen music" as it sounded like someone banging away on pots and pans and screaming. At least TV was good...it was before the influx of reality TV and there were a lot of good sitcoms and The Simpsons was in its heyday.
3) Bunny Wailer and Bob Marley were very close. In addition to being bandmates, they were friends in elementary school and later became family (Bunny's dad and Bob's mom had a daughter together). Who has known you the longest? Aside from my parents and family, you mean? (/smart ass :OP) I'd say...my friend Edith, she was the first person I got to know in Year 7 at high school and we still see each other on the odd occasion 20 years later (fuck that makes me feel old! O.o)
4) Does the person you named in #3, the one who's known you longest, know you best? No, because we don't hang out a lot. That person would probably be my friend Ben who I meant through another friend when I was about 15.
5) Bandmate Peter Tosh became an avid unicycle rider. What's your favorite form of exercise? LOL, unicycles...I heard they came out before bicycles...what was the thinking there? Anywho to answer your question I'd say...a toss up between ice skating and swimming.
6) Bob Marley was known for his signature dreadlocks. When were you last in a stylist’s chair? A few months back, and I'm getting my hair down the day before my mother's big Christmas party, which is needed because my hair is getting quite long and it's coming into summer so it's making me warm.
7) Marley's charisma is credited for popularizing reggae music the world over. Are you a fan? I don't actively seek it out, but I do like his songs.
8) Mr. Marley is one of the highest-earning dead celebrities, and manufacturers pay his estate to use his likeness to sell their merchandise. What dead celebrity have you seen recently on a t-shirt, mug, poster, etc.? Uh...hmm, I dunno. I feel like I saw Spock on a T-shirt somewhere, so I guess Leonard Nimoy then.
9) Random question: Have you ever had your palm read? Nope, although I don't look at a book about palmistry in the library once and tried to read my own palm. No new or accurate information was forthcoming.
OK, that's the Saturday 9 for July done! And now, my eyelids are drooping so I'm gonna turn in. I don't think I've been getting enough sleep this week and it's finally hitting me.
So goodnight!
