I can't believe how stupid this is. I bought the wrong book for a class and spent an hour today reading chapters 1 and 2. It was only when I went on-line to participate in a required on-line discussion for that class that I realized my mistake.
I blame the bookstore. Okay, so I could have looked more closely at which books were assigned for my class. But technically I should be able to go to the Human Services shelf in the bookstore, look at the course number and teacher and pick up all the books that way. This book was shoved WAAAY over from its proper place which is why I THOUGHT it was the right book. There were no other books in this particular classes spot. I have not been the only student to make this mistake.
What is even more unfortunate is that I cannot return it because I took it out of the plastic wrap that it was packaged in. I can only hope that this is a book I will need in the future, or one that will be handy to keep around to use as a reference. If not, there goes 50 bucks!
On top of that, I returned a book at the end of last quarter that I still needed this quarter. So I had to go and purchase it again. There goes another 30 bucks! The teacher did not specify to keep this book for the class I would have her in this quarter. So how was I supposed to know?!
I'm ticked. Now I'm behind in my reading and I won't be able to intelligently participate in the required discussion. I guess its good that I've built up a battery of BSing skills. They will come in handy in this case. Only I am even more ticked because I feel gypped out of learning what I was supposed this first week of class....it's different if I was willingly slacking off, but I was trying to be on top of it. BAH!
