So, my thoughts on new Who have had time to percolate.

To my mind Doctor Who has the most amazing premise for a TV show ever. You can go anywhere, anywhen, and tell stories in any genre. You can swap out any member of the cast or crew and the journey can still continue. Even in its ropiest days, every Doctor had some amazing stories (although the 6th, 7th and 8th Doctor's best stuff happens in the Big Finish audios).

So my expectations were very high. And they were not only met but exceeded.

Slightly ramble-y stuff ahead.

Beans are indeed evil. And thank goodness we weren't expected to believe that a pOlice would wear a skirt that short. (Side note to professional journalists and some parts of fandom at large - quit referring to Amy as a stripogram. Rather different thing.) Amy seems smart and resourceful, and she asks really good questions (always a sign of an engaging companion). And the new Tardis interior is a very sexy thing. Matt Smith moves in a fantastically fluid and interesting way. I completely buy him as a madman in a box. And "basically, run" is every bit as badass as the Daleks taking a step back when they see the 9th Doctor.

And most importantly (I know there are too many ands in this!) it made me feel the same way that "Rose" did - I felt seven years old again, and I felt that my show was back, and it was in safe hands, and it's not going anywhere.

The Doctor still has stories to tell, and adventures to embark upon, and people to save. And he's worse than everyone's aunt.
