Question?

I was wondering why you can't light Menorah candles directly. If anyone knows the answer I would greatly appreciate it. Oh and why it's not kosher to mix meat and dairy. Like what specific reason makes it a no no. Links to a place to ask would also be helpful.

You can light the candles using a match instead of the middle candle. It's just that there is one for lighting, so you might as well use it.

And the meat and dairy thing is a 'don't eat the products from the mother and the offspring' kind of thing, but wiki has no mention of that...

Eh, there's a list of the birds you can and can't eat. It's more specific than the rest. No animals with hooves, no shell fish. I would imagine eggs fall under what type of bird their from. I don't think it's explicitly stated that chicken omlettes are not kosher, but I can't imagine they are.

*spirals into more confusion*

Wait....no animals with hooves.....they wtf are you eating? Do pigs have hooves? They certainly don't have feet.

OMG, DOES THIS MEAN CAT IS KOSHER....that would be sick but cool.

Well, I should say cloven feet instead of hoof, since cow is fine. Pig is considered unfit for consumption because it rolls in its own crap, and I guess so do any other animals with cloven feet... idk

I assume the cloven thing is some devil referencing thing....pig meat is actually got very different meat fibers which makes it questionable. Like the meat links up in a bad way for cooking. Dirty pigs.

IT ALL MAKES SENSE NOW...All this talk of jewishness and food makes me want to find a jewish bakery....Think they'd make scones...the spanish bakery I have has no idea what a scone is....That would be cool...but bread is top priority. Warm yummy bread....I swear if they tried a bit I could be converted to anything based on my love of carbs.

The French bakery by me (actually run by a French man) might have scone, but I have never been able to see past the macaroons.
